Oakland Hockey Sweeps UK / Midnight Madness

OAKLAND UNIVERSITY HOCKEY:

10/17/05 Lexington, KY OU's offense has been close to unstoppable
the last four games, last weekend being no exception as the Grizzlies
netted 19 goals in two games. Friday night the Grizzlies started fast
scoring the first goal only 12 seconds into the contest. The Icecats
would answer back though, and quickly, scoring the next four goals.

"I think that being on a bus all day, playing at midnight, and the
tremendously loud Kentucky fans, added to the slow start," commented
Head Coach Sean Hogan.

In the second period the Grizzlies would show why they are national
champion contenders as they would score 7 straight unanswered goals
and lead 8-4 after two. Brent Cooper and Will McMahon scored two
goals each Friday. Brandon Lipari (0g 2a), Jarrett Samp (0g 2a) and
Ronnie Teasdale (1g 1a) would each finish the night with two points.

Saturday night was all OU as they would score 11 goals on 75 shots.
Cooper and McMahon would again lead the Grizzlies with Cooper
garnering 6 points (2g 4a) and McMahon netting 4 goals. Defenseman
Scott Elder would finish the night with 3 points (0g 3a). Chris
Joswiak turned away 28 Icecat shots.

Loud, Louder, Loudest: The University of Kentucky Icecats fans might
be the loudest in the nation.

"I can't think of a building at any level of hockey, including the
NCAA, that are more choreographed or louder than the UK fans are,"
commented Head Coach Sean Hogan.

"It is a lot of fun to make that trip," he added.

UK has always had a proud tradition of great fan support, typically
being the third most widely attended sport on the UK campus, behind
football and basketball.

Next Up: OU will make the short trip to the Sate Fairgrounds
Wednesday night to take on NCAA DI opponent Wayne State University.
Wayne State last played OU on October 4th beating the Grizzlies 8-0.
OU comes in with 4 straight victories totaling 40 goals in that span.

"Hopefully we can get a few in on Wayne State and make it exciting,"
stated Head Coach Sean Hogan.

Only one other ACHA team has played an NCAA DI opponent this season.
Penn State (ACHA DI) beat Robert Morris University (NCAA DI) 3-2 to
open the Robert Morris schedule.

News and Notes: Oakland University amassed an astounding 75 shots on
goal in Saturday's contest, making it their highest one game total in
OU history. The Grizzly power play was 5 for 16 on the weekend and is
13 for 57 on the season, or 22%. OU forward John Parrish (1g 1a)
netted his first goal of the season in Saturday's game, and Jarrett
Samp (0g 2a) garnered his first two points in Friday's contest.

Hospitality Room: The Hospitality Room and Official Game Programs
will both be available for the 10/21 Home game versus Davenport. The
Hospitality Room is open to season ticket holders, players and player
families.

Thanks to Grizzlies Head coach Sean Hogan for the write up.
