HACKETT NAMED CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE GOALIE OF THE WEEK.

Read Full release here "Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Matt Hackett of the Plymouth Whalers is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 18. Hackett posted a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout win with a goals-against-average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .957.

Hackett began his week on Friday night with a 30 save performance at home against the Barrie Colts. He was named second star of the game in the 5-3 victory. His solid play between the pipes continued on Saturday at Compuware Arena in Plymouth where he made 37 saves including 17 in the second period to shutout the Owen Sound Attack 5-0. The shutout for Hackett, his second of the season, was the only one of its kind last week in the OHL and earned him first star of the game honours.

Hackett, an 18-year-old from London, ON, is in his third OHL season and first full season with the Whalers having began his career with the Windsor Spitfires. In 32 games this season Hackett has a record of 18-11-2-0 with a 2.89 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage. His strong play has helped lift the Whalers into playoff contention where they currently sit seventh in the Western Conference with 46 points.
