Weekend Preview: Liberty At Oakland, Oakland At Michigan

What: Liberty Flames at Oakland Golden Grizzlies

When: Friday 8:40pm ONYX Ice Arena, Rochester

Broadcast: WXOU via the web www.wxousports.com

Records:

Oakland 9-9-1

Streak 2 Straight Wins

Liberty 16-4-0

Streak OU 2 Straight Wins LU: 2 straight wins and they have won 10 of 11

Game is a Rematch of the 2006 D2 National Championship game where The Grizzlies won a 2nd National Championship

Oakland Keys:

1) The Defense must have limited turnovers and crisp, sharp, accurate passes through the neutral zone.

2) The Goalies cannot give up weak shots, play smart and just cover up the puck when in doubt, simply said then done and OU must respond with force after a goal is allowed no getting deflated.

3) The Power Play must click while OU must limit penalties and stay disciplined through out the game, OU cannot afford to have any players thrown out of the game.

4) The third period OU must clamp down on D and pressure Liberty with shots they cannot afford to have a 3rd period meltdown (which includes weak third period goals) or OU will get burned and blown right out of the building. Play a full 60 which is something Oakland has not done in a very long time.

5) McMahon and Cooper will be sharp no doubt but OU needs JP to continue his weekend goal streak, and others like Elder and Samp, who contributed at Buffalo must do the same this weekend.

6) No Excuses play hard and play well and care about your performance on the ice regardless of who is in the lineup. Don't have the usual built in injury excuse ready to go before faceoff.

A good solid win with contributions from everyone will set the tone for the second semester.

What: Oakland Golden Grizzlies At Michigan Wolverines

When: Saturday 7pm Yost Ice Arena, Ann Arbor
Broadcast: WXOU via the web http://www.wxousports.com/

Records:

Oakland 9-9-1

Streak 2 Straight Wins

Michigan 10-5-0

Streak 4 Straight wins

Michigan is much improved under new Head Coach Don Massey

Oakland Keys:

1) As The D1 Team OU needs to set the tone early and not undersstimate the Wolverines.

2) This is the perfect game for the other forwards to dominate and show what they have. The question is will they? McMahon and Cooper should control the play when they are on the ice. You should not need McMahon and Cooper to have to carry the play in this game, if the Grizzlies do they will be in trouble.

3) Never let up on Michigan- You will get burned in the end (See key 4)

4) The third period Oakland must not have a meltdown plain and simple no matter the score the Grizzlies must pressure the Wolverines and don't think that because they are D2 they are better (See Davenport)

End the Semester on a good note get another victory and work on the things that were sub-par in the 1st semester during the Short Break if you don' think the time for slipups have passed then it surely will this weekend.
