Plymouth Whalers Playoffs

The Whalers playoffs are about to get underway. They are The 8th seed facing the 1 Seed Kitchener Rangers. The game is about to get underway in the Aud in Kitchener, which is a tough place to play with a good atmosphere. Making the drive there myself a few times it was well worth it! Pete Krupsky has the call at the Plymouth Whalers site

Also good luck to Whalers assistant coach Brian Sommariva as well.

Now never say never with Jeremy Smith back in net as we have seen at Oakland last year when everyone says you can't, including myself and you have a hot goalie (Collin Chase)and key players on D and Forward scoring key clutch goals and playing simple hockey anything can happen. Its a new season and everyone is 0-0 (just as I type this the Rangers Score)

Brad Beer is the Ref so expect lots of calls!

Lucky for our OU Hockey color analyst Kyle Horner is sitting at home in Essex watching it on Rogers Cable

What Happened in Tulsa

At the ORU-IUPUI Summit League Tournament Championship Game in Tulsa, OK mascot fight it was not as dramatic as the video makes it seem but they were not joking:

Also it sucked watching ORU celebrate the championship knowing OU's season ended the night before.

D1 Grades Show

Did our grades show today. The reaction was "Hagood your a homer" and that I went to easy on the guys and the Coaches. I have only had 1 upset person for being harsh. I admit I have since January decided to ease up and go lighter on everyone on the show and on the broadcast which has led to the homer comments which fine I guess. I know some fans had noticed and wondered why that was, it was because I thought I was being to harsh at times. Maybe that was a bad move on my part to start throwing softballs around.

For some reason after talking to Coach Gordie Schaeffler today on the show I really do feel they are going to get the exact players they need for next year which includes 3 or 4 pure goal scorers 1 top 4 defender and a solid backup. This was a wakeup call and learning experience for all of us.

Good to see all 4 coaches will be back next season. We are very lucky for that as they will grow and learn from this as well.
